Custom hard enamel necklaces for brand jewelry lines, fashion brands, indie illustrators, music merch, and any project where a wearable enamel pendant fits the brief better than a pin. Each necklace is a hard enamel pendant on a 24" gold or silver chain. The pendant uses the same baked-and-buffed hard enamel process as our pins (smooth, polished, jewelry-grade finish), sized down for daily wear and finished with chain hardware.
Alchemy is a production partner built by artists, musicians, and brand owners. We've helped creators produce over 5 million custom products since 2019, and we don't operate like a promotional products company. Whether you're an indie illustrator running your first 50-piece drop, a band making merch for a tour, or a designer ordering for a brand launch, our job is the same: make the best merch we can for you.
What hard enamel necklaces actually are
The pendant is a hard enamel pin (without the pin clutch on the back), connected to a chain via a small loop or bail at the top. Hard enamel means the colored enamel is filled into a metal mold, baked at high temperature until it hardens, and then buffed flush with the raised metal lines. The result is a smooth jewelry-quality surface that holds color, doesn't chip, and reads as actual jewelry rather than as a converted pin.
The same simple-vs-complex shape rules apply as our hard enamel pins: simple shapes stamp from iron at standard cost, complex shapes with deep cut-ins or tight interior sections need a die-cast zinc alloy mold which costs more.

Why hard enamel for a necklace specifically
Necklaces sit against skin and clothing all day. Hard enamel's flush, polished surface holds up to that wear in a way soft enamel doesn't — soft enamel's recessed color can collect skin oils and lint over time. Hard enamel's flat surface stays clean and looks like real jewelry rather than like a pin pretending to be jewelry.
How a run actually works
Most orders start with a quote, not a cart. You send us your artwork (vector preferred for clean lines, raster works for full-color), and we come back with pricing, a production timeline, and any production notes within a business day or two. We'll flag anything in the file that won't translate well at production size before we move forward.
From proof approval, most overseas products are about a month to your door. That's the nature of producing 100% custom merchandise overseas vs. shipping a stock promotional item. Shipping is express and included in the price.
If you have a hard deadline, tell us before you order. We don't charge rush fees. We'll either confirm we can hit your date or tell you up front that we can't, so you can plan around it.
Why our minimum is 50
It's a factory math thing, not a quality stance. The factories we work with charge a labor minimum that covers setup, mold use, proofing, and the production run itself. That floor barely changes between a 25-piece and a 50-piece order, so a 25-piece run costs almost the same as 50 with half the output. 50 is where the per-piece price actually starts to make sense.
We can run smaller hard sample runs if you really need to (the factory will do it), but it's not financially viable for most people: you're paying close to 50-piece pricing for a fraction of the output. If you're set on a small run, email us first and we'll walk through whether it's worth it. Larger runs (100, 200, and up) bring the per-piece cost down meaningfully.
Who we work with
Artists running their own work: illustrators, bands, indie brand owners, podcasters, comic creators, convention sellers. Designers ordering for a brand launch, an event, a campaign, or a customer giveaway. Agencies and design studios producing merch for their clients. Merch companies running production for the artists they represent. The common thread is that the merch matters: it's representing a brand, a band, an artist, or a project that someone cares about.

Common questions
How is this different from a hard enamel pin?
The pendant is essentially the same hard enamel object, but without a pin clutch on the back and with a small loop or bail at the top to attach to a chain. Same enamel process, same finish quality, just configured for wearing as a necklace. More on hard enamel pins here.
Can I have a custom chain length?
Yes. 24" is the standard length (sits at upper chest for most adults), but we can do shorter (16-18" choker length) or longer chains on request. Email us with your length and quantity for a quote.
Can I pick a different chain style or material?
Default is a standard cable chain in gold or silver. For specialty chain styles (rope, box, snake, ball chain) or precious metal options (sterling silver, gold-filled, solid gold), email us with your specs and we'll quote a custom option.
What sizes can the pendant be?
Pendants typically sit between 0.75" and 1.5" for comfortable daily wear. Larger pendants are possible but get heavy on a chain. Email us with your size if you're outside the typical range.
Can I do specialty enamel inks?
Yes. Same options as our hard enamel pins — though specialty inks (glitter, glow) work better in soft enamel. For necklaces specifically, hard enamel's flat finish often suits a brand-jewelry aesthetic better than the texture of soft enamel.
How long do hard enamel necklaces take?
About four weeks from proof approval to your door, including express shipping. No rush fees.
Do I see a proof before production?
Yes. Digital proof for review before production is scheduled. Revisions until you approve.
Are these made in the USA?
Hard enamel necklaces are produced overseas at long-vetted factories. Our team is US-based and handles file prep, proofing, and customer success. Our wooden products and stickers are made in the USA.
