Full-color printing on both sides at no extra cost (same design or different on each side), with multiple width options and a comprehensive selection of attachment hardware to fit any badge holder, ID card, or key configuration.
Alchemy is a production partner built by artists, musicians, and brand owners. We've helped creators produce over 5 million custom products since 2019, and we don't operate like a promotional products company. Whether you're an indie illustrator running your first 50-piece drop, a band making merch for a tour, or a designer ordering for a brand launch, our job is the same: make the best merch we can for you.

Attachment options
Lanyards come with a comprehensive selection of attachment hardware for different use cases:
- Lobster claw (default) — the most common badge holder attachment, opens easily, holds securely
- Bulldog clip — clips onto badge cards and IDs without needing a hole
- J-hook — simpler hook for badge holder loops
- Swivel clip — reduces twisting/tangling during use
- Cell phone loop — for phone tethering use cases
- Key ring — for use as a keychain lanyard
- Breakaway buckle — safety release that pops open under tension; common requirement for school and youth-event use
Specify your attachment in your order notes; if you don't, we'll use lobster claw as the default.
How a run actually works
Most orders start with a quote, not a cart. You send us your artwork, and we come back with pricing, a production timeline, and any production notes within a business day or two. We'll flag anything in the file that won't translate well at production size before we move forward.
From proof approval, most overseas products are about a month to your door. That's the nature of producing 100% custom merchandise overseas vs. shipping a stock promotional item. Shipping is express and included in the price.
If you have a hard deadline, tell us before you order. We don't charge rush fees. We'll either confirm we can hit your date or tell you up front that we can't, so you can plan around it.
Why our lanyard minimum is 100
Lanyards have a higher minimum than our 50-piece products because the production involves multiple distinct steps — fabric weaving or sublimation printing, cutting, sewing, attachment hardware assembly. Each step has its own setup cost. 100 is where the math works for the per-piece price to make sense. Larger runs (250, 500, 1000+) bring the cost down significantly.
Who we work with
Artists running their own work: illustrators, bands, indie brand owners, podcasters, comic creators, convention sellers. Designers ordering for a brand launch, an event, a campaign, or a customer giveaway. Agencies and design studios producing merch for their clients. Merch companies running production for the artists they represent. The common thread is that the merch matters: it's representing a brand, a band, an artist, or a project that someone cares about.

Common questions
Can I have different artwork on each side of the lanyard?
Yes, at no extra cost. Two-sided printing is standard. Common pattern: brand logo on one side, event name/date or sponsor mark on the other.
What sizes are available?
20mm, 25mm (most common), and 32mm widths in standard 900mm length. Custom widths and lengths are available on request — email us with your specs.
Do you have safety breakaway buckles for schools?
Yes. Breakaway buckles are commonly required for school and youth-event lanyards as a safety feature. They release the lanyard if it gets caught on something, preventing strangulation injuries. Specify breakaway in your order notes.
What's the typical use case minimum?
100 pieces. Most conferences and events order 250-500+; school orders typically run 200-1000+; brand teams ordering for retail merchandise typically run 250+. The 100 minimum supports smaller event needs while still hitting our economic floor.
Can I have a custom hardware combination?
Yes. We can mix attachment types within an order if some recipients need different hardware than others. Email us with your specifications.
What artwork format works best?
Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) for clean lines. High-resolution raster (300 DPI at print size) for full-color or photo-realistic art. CMYK preferred.
How long do lanyard orders take?
About four weeks from proof approval to your door, including express shipping. No rush fees.
Do I see a proof before production?
Yes. Digital proof showing both sides plus your selected attachment hardware. Revisions until you approve.
Are these made in the USA?
Lanyards are produced overseas at long-vetted factories. Our team is US-based and handles file prep, proofing, and customer success. Our wooden products and stickers are made in the USA.

Design Templates
Set up your artwork at the correct size with proper bleed and safe zones using our production templates. Vector files (PDF/AI/EPS) are preferred for clean lines and scaling; raster (PSD) works for full-color artwork at 300dpi.
