Custom soft enamel earrings for fashion brands, indie illustrators selling jewelry lines, music merch, and creators wanting tactile dimensional jewelry that reads as crafted rather than mass-produced. Same soft enamel construction as our pins (raised metal lines with recessed colored fills you can feel under your thumb), sized for daily wear and finished with your choice of post or hook backing.

Note on quantity: Earrings are priced as individuals, not as pairs. So 100 earrings = 50 complete pairs. Plan your minimum accordingly.

Alchemy is a production partner built by artists, musicians, and brand owners. We've helped creators produce over 5 million custom products since 2019, and we don't operate like a promotional products company. Whether you're an indie illustrator running your first 50-piece drop, a band making merch for a tour, or a designer ordering for a brand launch, our job is the same: make the best merch we can for you.

What soft enamel earrings actually are

The earring body is built like a small soft enamel pin (without the pin clutch on the back), connected to your chosen backing hardware (post-and-back or hook). Soft enamel means the colored ink fills sit recessed below raised metal lines you can feel with your thumb — the textured, dimensional look that distinguishes soft enamel from hard enamel's flat polished surface.

For a smoother jewelry-quality polished finish, see our hard enamel earrings. Hard enamel reads more polished and durable; soft enamel reads more illustrative and craft-forward.

Sizes and backing options

Most custom earrings sit between 0.35" and 1" for comfortable daily wear. Larger is possible but at sizes above 1.5" the metal-and-enamel weight gets significant — for designs that large we recommend hook backing instead of post backing because hooks distribute the weight better through the ear.

Standard backing options:

  • Post and butterfly back (default for sizes up to 1.5")
  • Hook backing (recommended for larger or heavier designs)
  • Lever back (more secure than butterfly back, slightly more premium feel)

Specify your backing choice in your order notes; if you don't, we'll use post and butterfly back as the default.

Specialty options

  • Glitter enamel for sparkle in specific fills
  • Glow-in-the-dark ink for accents that activate under light
  • Free epoxy coating for added smoothness and protection — recommended on jewelry that sits against skin all day, since the recessed soft enamel can otherwise pick up skin oils over time

How a run actually works

Most orders start with a quote, not a cart. You send us your artwork, and we come back with pricing, a production timeline, and any production notes within a business day or two. We'll flag anything in the file that won't translate well at production size before we move forward.

From proof approval, most overseas products are about a month to your door. That's the nature of producing 100% custom merchandise overseas vs. shipping a stock promotional item. Shipping is express and included in the price.

If you have a hard deadline, tell us before you order. We don't charge rush fees. We'll either confirm we can hit your date or tell you up front that we can't, so you can plan around it.

Why our minimum is 50

It's a factory math thing, not a quality stance. The factories we work with charge a labor minimum that covers setup, mold use, proofing, and the production run itself. That floor barely changes between a 25-piece and a 50-piece order, so a 25-piece run costs almost the same as 50 with half the output. 50 is where the per-piece price actually starts to make sense.

We can run smaller hard sample runs if you really need to (the factory will do it), but it's not financially viable for most people: you're paying close to 50-piece pricing for a fraction of the output. If you're set on a small run, email us first and we'll walk through whether it's worth it. Larger runs (100, 200, and up) bring the per-piece cost down meaningfully.

Who we work with

Artists running their own work: illustrators, bands, indie brand owners, podcasters, comic creators, convention sellers. Designers ordering for a brand launch, an event, a campaign, or a customer giveaway. Agencies and design studios producing merch for their clients. Merch companies running production for the artists they represent. The common thread is that the merch matters: it's representing a brand, a band, an artist, or a project that someone cares about.

Common questions

Why are earrings priced individually instead of by pair?

Because we make each earring as a separate piece. Some buyers want matched pairs; others want mismatched pairs (different design or color on each ear); some want runs of single earrings as merch giveaways. Pricing per piece keeps the math flexible. So 100 = 50 pairs, 200 = 100 pairs, etc.

What's the difference between soft and hard enamel earrings?

Soft enamel has raised metal lines with recessed color you can feel. Hard enamel is buffed flush so the surface is smooth. Soft is more tactile and craft-forward; hard is more polished and jewelry-finished. More on hard enamel earrings here.

Can I do mismatched earrings (different art or color on each ear)?

Yes. Email us with your specs — we can run mismatched pairs as long as each design hits the minimum. Common pattern: one earring is character A, the other is character B, sold as a set.

Is the epoxy coating free?

Yes, on every soft enamel earring. We strongly recommend it for jewelry — the clear coat protects the recessed color from skin oil pickup over time and gives a smoother surface against skin.

Can I have specialty inks like glitter or glow?

Yes. Same options as our soft enamel pins. Specialty inks add cost; email us for an exact quote.

What size earrings can you make?

Most custom earrings are 0.35" to 1". Larger is possible up to about 1.5" with post backing or larger with hook backing. Email us if you need sizes outside this range.

How long do earrings take?

About four weeks from proof approval to your door, including express shipping. No rush fees.

Do I see a proof before production?

Yes. Digital proof for review before production is scheduled. Revisions until you approve.

Are these made in the USA?

Earrings are produced overseas at long-vetted factories. Our team is US-based and handles file prep, proofing, and customer success. Our wooden products and stickers are made in the USA.
