Custom tea towels for indie home-goods brands, retail kitchen lines, illustrators making everyday-use merchandise, brand teams producing thoughtful corporate gifts, conventions selling functional fan merch, and creators whose product line includes real household products people actually use. We offer three distinct construction styles in the standard 45cm × 65cm (17.7" × 25.6") size, with full customization to match your design and brand aesthetic.
Alchemy is a production partner built by artists, musicians, and brand owners. We've helped creators produce over 5 million custom products since 2019, and we don't operate like a promotional products company. Whether you're an indie illustrator running your first 50-piece drop, a band making merch for a tour, or a designer ordering for a brand launch, our job is the same: make the best merch we can for you.
The three tea towel styles
Waffle texture sublimated polyester
Modern tea towel with a waffle weave texture. Polyester base accepts full-color sublimation print at maximum saturation, giving you the most vibrant colors available across the three styles. Less absorbent than cotton (polyester naturally repels water more), so this works better as decorative merch than as a functional drying towel. Best when your design depends on visual impact and color accuracy more than functional use.
Cotton flour sack
Made from absorbent cotton with a soft, vintage-inspired look. Popular with indie brands, farmhouse-aesthetic shops, and anyone wanting a "real" tea towel that customers will actually use in the kitchen. The flour sack construction gives the towel a warm, handcrafted feel. Print uses standard cotton printing (less saturated than polyester sublimation) but the fabric reads more authentic.
Cotton woven tea towels
Available in multiple thread weaves and weights. The most traditional tea towel construction, with the most tactile substance and the highest absorbency. Best for premium retail-grade tea towels and brand teams who want their merch to feel like a real kitchen product, not a printed flat surface.
How to choose
Pick waffle sublimated polyester when full-color visual impact matters most. Pick cotton flour sack when warm, vintage handcrafted feel is the brand aesthetic. Pick cotton woven when premium kitchen-product feel and absorbency are the priority. If you want to compare all three in person before committing, see our tea towels example set — one of each style in a single set.

How a run actually works
Most orders start with a quote, not a cart. You send us your artwork, and we come back with pricing, a production timeline, and any production notes within a business day or two. We'll flag anything in the file that won't translate well at production size before we move forward.
From proof approval, most overseas products are about a month to your door. That's the nature of producing 100% custom merchandise overseas vs. shipping a stock promotional item. Shipping is express and included in the price.
If you have a hard deadline, tell us before you order. We don't charge rush fees. We'll either confirm we can hit your date or tell you up front that we can't, so you can plan around it.
Why our minimum is 50
It's a factory math thing, not a quality stance. The factories we work with charge a labor minimum that covers setup, mold use, proofing, and the production run itself. That floor barely changes between a 25-piece and a 50-piece order, so a 25-piece run costs almost the same as 50 with half the output. 50 is where the per-piece price actually starts to make sense.
We can run smaller hard sample runs if you really need to (the factory will do it), but it's not financially viable for most people: you're paying close to 50-piece pricing for a fraction of the output. If you're set on a small run, email us first and we'll walk through whether it's worth it. Larger runs (100, 200, and up) bring the per-piece cost down meaningfully.
Who we work with
Artists running their own work: illustrators, bands, indie brand owners, podcasters, comic creators, convention sellers. Designers ordering for a brand launch, an event, a campaign, or a customer giveaway. Agencies and design studios producing merch for their clients. Merch companies running production for the artists they represent. The common thread is that the merch matters: it's representing a brand, a band, an artist, or a project that someone cares about.

Common questions
Which style is most absorbent?
Cotton woven is most absorbent, followed by cotton flour sack. Polyester (waffle) is least absorbent because polyester naturally repels water more than cotton. If functional kitchen use is the priority, cotton. If decorative or merchandise display is the priority, polyester.
Which style prints with the most vibrant colors?
Waffle sublimated polyester. Sublimation dyes the polyester fibers themselves, giving you the most saturated full-color print. Cotton (both flour sack and woven) prints less saturated because the cotton fibers absorb ink rather than bonding with it the same way polyester does.
Can I order all three styles in one order?
Yes, as long as each style hits the 50-piece minimum. So a 150-piece order could be 50 of each style.
What artwork format works best?
High-resolution raster (300 DPI at print size) or vector. CMYK preferred; RGB converts and we proof carefully. Designs that read well at tea-towel scale (relatively bold) work better than designs with very fine detail that would be lost on textured fabric.
How long do tea towel orders take?
About four weeks from proof approval to your door, including express shipping. No rush fees.
Can I do belly band packaging?
Yes. Custom-printed belly band packaging is available — useful for retail-finish presentation. Each belly band wraps the folded tea towel and can carry your branding, product description, or care instructions.
Do I see a proof before production?
Yes. Digital proof for review before printing. Revisions until you approve.
Are these made in the USA?
Tea towels are produced overseas at long-vetted factories. Our team is US-based and handles file prep, proofing, and customer success. Our wooden products and stickers are made in the USA.
