What custom washi tape actually is
Washi tape is a Japanese paper-based decorative tape with a low-tack adhesive backing. It's the staple of journaling, scrapbooking, gift wrapping, packaging design, and small-scale paper craft. Unlike regular tape, it's removable and repositionable — you can stick it down, peel it back up, and reapply it without leaving residue or tearing the surface underneath.
Custom washi tape applies your full-color design as a repeating pattern across the tape surface. The pattern repeats every 350mm (about 14 inches) along the roll, so the same design appears six or seven times across a single 10-meter roll. Most designs are tile-able illustration, repeating logos, brand patterns, or character art that reads well as a repeat.

How a washi tape run actually works
Most orders start with a quote, not a cart. You send us your artwork (vector preferred for repeat patterns), and we come back with pricing, a production timeline, and any production notes within a business day or two. We'll prep your file with the correct repeat distance and bleed settings before submitting to the factory.
From proof approval, washi tape is about four weeks to your door for standard CMYK and 6 to 8 weeks for less-common foils that the factory has to source separately. Shipping is express and included. We work directly with the washi tape factory so you don't have to navigate overseas vendor relationships, MOQs at the factory level, or shipping logistics yourself.

Why our washi tape minimum is 50
It's a factory math thing, not a quality stance. The overseas washi tape factory we work with charges a labor minimum that covers digitizing, plate setup, ink mixing, and the print run itself. That floor barely changes between 25 and 50 rolls per design, so 50 is where the per-roll price actually starts to make sense. Multiple designs per order are allowed as long as each design hits 50 rolls in the same width.

Common questions
What's a 350mm pattern repeat?
The factory prints washi tape on a continuous roll, with your design repeating every 350mm along the length. So on a 10-meter (10,000mm) roll, your design appears about 28 times in succession. Designs that read as a repeating pattern (illustration that tiles, repeating brand marks, character art that flows) work best. Single-image designs that don't tile work too, but the user will see the same image repeating throughout the roll.
What sizes (widths) of washi tape can you make?
Common sizes from 15mm up to 30mm and beyond. Custom widths are available on request — email us with your width and quantity, and we'll quote it. Different widths have different per-roll minimums; standard 15mm is the most economical.
Can I do multiple designs in one order?
Yes. Multiple designs per order as long as each design hits the 50-roll minimum and they're all the same width. So 100 rolls could be two designs at 50 each, or four designs at 25 each (no — minimum per design is still 50, so 100 rolls is two designs maximum).
What's the optional custom sticker label?
Each washi tape roll typically ships with a small sticker label on top of the roll showing the design or brand. Standard labels are simple. We offer an upgraded custom sticker label with your branding on top of each roll for retail-display purposes. Adds a small per-roll cost.
What artwork format works best?
Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) are ideal because the pattern repeat needs to tile cleanly. High-resolution raster (300 DPI at print size) works for non-tiling designs. CMYK is preferred; RGB converts and we proof carefully.
How long does a washi tape order take?
About four weeks from proof approval to your door for standard CMYK rolls, including express shipping. No rush fees.
Do I see a proof before production?
Yes. Digital proof showing how your design tiles on the tape before we go to the factory. Revisions until you approve.
Are these made in the USA?
Washi tape is produced overseas at a long-vetted factory in Asia. Our team is US-based and handles file prep, proofing, and customer success. Our wooden products and stickers are made in the USA.
Do you do foil washi tape too?
Yes. Custom foil washi tape is a separate product with metallic foil accents. Pattern repeat is different (250mm vs 350mm) and turnaround can be longer for less-common foils.
