Is the tape made from genuine washi paper (e.g., rice paper), and can it be produced with 100% or partially recycled and/or FSC-certified paper?
Our Washi Tape is real Japanese washi paper.
Yes, our washi tape is also FSC certified. If you need your own FSC certification, it adds cost to do, but is not a problem.
Is the final tape recyclable and deinkable
Our Washi Tape can be regarded as environmentally friendly because it is made from paper as the base material, uses paper, and has the characteristics of easy removal and no residual glue, which makes it more environmentally friendly than plastic tape.
What kind of glue is used?
The glue we use is waterbased repositionable adhesive. The adhesive non-toxic and REACH-compliant

Frequently asked questions about custom patch production
Do I see a proof before they get made?
The factory will create a digital proof for you to review before full production begins. If we have an approval, they schedule the full run, but if we need changes, we can request them and get a new proofs until you approve
How long does washi take to make? And can you do rush orders?
Most washi take about a month from proof approval to shipment.
If you have a rush order, please email us and we will find out if it is doable for you.
What happens after I order?
We will email you back confirming all details work as intended and then get the order submitted to the factory. Within 1-2 business days, we will send over a digital proof. If you approve, we can schedule the full production, or we can make changes.
Where are your products made/what’s the factory like?
Our washi is made in China, as all washi is (there are some factories who claim to produce them in the US, but it’s false advertising- they have a US based team just like us, but hide the fact that they make the actual products in China.)
Many people think that Chinese factories are “sweatshops” or that they employ child labor or other unethical practices, but that couldn’t be further from the truth- Chinese manufacturing is a sophisticated, high tech industry that involves competitive local wages and teams of skilled engineers and artisans. It is akin to - or in many cases more advanced than - manufacturing processes and facilities in the US.
Our owner has personally visited our pin factory, met the owner and even tried his hand at fabrication! Most of our other products also come from Chinese partners, except for stickers and wooden products which are made in the USA.
What happens if my order isn't made right?
We are making hand made products and things can go wrong. Any order made wrong or with issues can be either re-made or refunded with the bad product returned. We never want this to happen, but when it does, we have your back and it won't cost you anything.
Is there a discount on re-orders?
There is not on washi tape.
Are there discounts if I order a lot of designs at the same time?
Yes! As long as all of the washi you need is the same size, e.g. 20mm, we can combine them (min 50 per design) and price off of the total amount. An order of 200(50x4) is priced for 200, not 50 x 4.
Will my art be taken/resold/ripped off?
We have a close relationship with our factories and they have a lot more to lose than gain by using anybody’s designs for their own purposes- at our request they don’t even show our designs in their portfolio. Sadly, most times when a design is stolen, it’s actually done by stealing an image online and tracing it, so we can’t promise your design will never get copied, but we can promise our factory won’t be the ones doing it.
Are there Eco-Friendly packaging options?
Yes. We can do tissue paper to wrap them if you'd like to avoid using plastic.
Can you do other things not listed, or other quantities?
Yes! We can make any size or quantity. We can also make stamp washi, groups packaged together and a lot more.

Do you have templates?
Yes! We have templates for all sizes in vector and raster (photoshop, etc)
How do I use the template and set up my files?
1. Artwork needs to be AI(best)/PSD or at least PDF.
2. Resolution of artwork needs to be at least 400dpi at scale if raster. If vector, resolution doesn't matter.
3. The repeat length of design needs to be 250mm
4. The art needs a 1.5mm bleed on top and on bottom. E.g. If you want 28mm Washi Tape, design it at 31mm (28 +3) - Our templates have that marked out
5. Adding a safe 3mm inner bleed (1.5 top/1.5 bottom) is advised if you are using text in your design or any crucial elements to keep them safely from the cut edges.
5. Foil areas need to be at least 0.15mm thick and need 0.3mm of space between it and any other design elements. When designing, try adding a 0.3mm stroke to the outside of your artwork that matches the background tone to give the foil enough space to work cleanly.
